Some of our team members recently had the opportunity to sit down with Symone Graham, a writer for the Charlotte Business Journal. We were able to shed light on the rapid growth within the Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) channel. As highlighted in the article, a Cerulli Associates report shows RIA headcount has grown from about 18% to over 27% over the past decade, with projections to exceed 30% within the next five years. Founding partners Dustin Barr and Oliver Cross attribute this trend to financial advisers moving towards greater independence and a more personalized, client-centric approach, unique to the RIA model.
Dustin pointed out that Verum’s commitment to value-added services—such as guidance on home-buying strategies—sets RIAs apart by deepening client relationships over the long term. As an RIA, we are solely focused on providing tailored advice that best suits our clients’ needs.
Oliver added that technology advancements have made launching an RIA firm more accessible and professional, enabling these firms to deliver at a high standard without the constraints seen in larger institutions. Additionally, Director of Client Partnership, Molly Bohrer, noted the appeal of Verum’s remote service capabilities, allowing the firm to serve clients nationwide.
